Islam and Spiritualism

However, the truth of Islam can be found in the Qur’an. The Qur’an is like a text book guide to life. In it you will find answers to all questions. For me, everything I had learned about all the different religions, everything that I knew to be true, fitted together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. I had all the pieces all along but I just did not know how to fix them together….

Friday Prayer is an occasion for the assembly of the Muslims of a whole city or a town. It gives them an opportunity to meet together to discuss and solve their individual as well as community problems. Getting together once a week develops unity, co-operation and cohesiveness among Muslims. The logic that Friday Prayer is a demonstration of equality is also reasonable….

There is an unending debate in Islamic theological literature on whether or not the Quran supports mysticism/Sufism. Several Islamic scholars, particularly Wahhabi hardliners, say that the Quran does not support Sufism. In fact, they believe that the Sufism is anathema to Quran. ...  However, without discussing the two philosophies, we find some simple and easy to understand verses in the Quran which clearly support Sufism or at least practices that come under the category of Sufism.

Having Allah’s Favours may be a means to accepting Islam and believing in Allah. However, it may be a trial for one’s disbelief and deviation. It may be a trial to be secure, healthy, safe, and wealthy, while one is astray from obeying Allah. This kind of trial and affliction will be an argument against you and will increase your torment on the Day of Resurrection, if you die in this condition…..

Killing In The Name Of Muhammad Is Blasphemy

Killing In The Name Of Muhammad Is Blasphemy
M Rajaque Rahman

These teachings confirm beyond doubt that all created beings and objects have come from the same single source. This realisation of the vastness of the concept of Muhammad is the only way to save the world from the wrongs being perpetrated in the name of Islam. It is a bigger insult to the Prophet to kill in his name than even a blasphemous cartoon!....

The sad state of the violence that today engulfs Muslim cities, pitting Muslim against Muslim, is in no small measure the result of the over-politicisation and over-securitisation of Islam. Whole states are disintegrating and religious and sectarian intolerance is ushering in a horrible era of annihilation and self-destruction.  Islam never began with jihad (a holy war). The miracle of the Prophet Muhammad is that he knew when to retreat (via Hijra or emigration) to build values of solidarity, peaceful coexistence with all kinds of "otherness" (such as in Medina and hostile Arab tribes), create know-how, and voluntarism in faith and membership of community, along with moderation…

Despite divergent views of scholars about celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday, my personal opinion is in favour of those who celebrate it. Those who oppose celebration of the birthday say that it is a Bida’h but I consider it as a good Bida’h…..

Allah has created this intense feeling of love that mothers have for their offspring in animals, too. Science is amazed by the self-sacrifice that animals display in defence of their young. Of course Allah also creates various lessons in this behaviour of animals. There is much wisdom behind this affection that Allah inspires in the human heart. An entity with no knowledge of the world it will live in, nor of right and wrong or good and bad, that is totally unable to defend itself and to meet its own needs when it first opens its eyes is placed under total protection by Allah through this “mother’s love.” …

Acceptance of Our Prayer Requests

Acceptance of Our Prayer Requests
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan

If your supplications do not appear to be being accepted, you must know that this is what God wills. God knows better what is good for His servants. Often, we are concerned only with our desires and do not really know what is truly good for us.....

The failure of irreligious people in submitting themselves to Allah causes them to be in a constant state of ill ease, anxiety and stress. As a consequence, they are afflicted by various psychological illnesses, which reveal themselves in their physical selves. Their bodies wear down more quickly, and they age rapidly and degenerate…..

In that final speech, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “O People, by Allah, I fear not poverty for you, but I fear that you may compete with each other in this worldly life as the people before you competed, and you get destroyed just as they got destroyed.” Then he said, “O People, preserve your prayers, preserve your prayers! O people fear Allah by treating your women well, be kind to the women.”….

A Journey to the Eternal Life
Harun Yahya

Imagine you are standing in the middle of a very large train station. Young people, old people and children are all rushing past; they are all in a great hurry. They are all trying to get on the same train, because they will all be setting out on the same journey. Some have carefully packed all they own. They are unaware that they will not need any of it at the end of the journey. Some are bidding farewell to their families. They do not realize there can be no return at the end of the journey. We are just some of the millions of travelers who will board that same train when the time comes. We stand there and wait for the train that will take us off to our eternal lives in the Hereafter, a train that we shall one day have to board……

It is perceived that we are today in the grip of a communalist politics. Let me hazard a prediction. It will not take roots in Kashmir because we have a long legacy of rejection of communalism. Anything that rejects the mystical or that imposes a sectarian or fundamentalist approach here can’t sustain. Historical and cultural forces are too strong to be appropriated into narrow ideological ends by any politician. It is commonly believed that during medieval times in Kashmir dialogue between Islam and indigenous religious traditions of Kashmir didn’t happen on any level and it was a question of either or with regard to acceptance or rejection of new religious identity.

We must understand that at juristic level Sheikh-ul-Alam could have emphatically meant Hendenheinz Kami Travavto and still uphold Unitarian vision of Tawhid that perceives brotherhood of spirit and opens up to the religious other. We say in Kashmir that Adam had two sons, one chose grave and the other awren. Mirwaiz Ami Sahib is reported to pray for the safe coming of Hindu pilgrims from their pilgrimage in Kashmir.......

Uphold Active Quranic Morality
Kazi Wadud Nawaz, New Age Islam

The revelation of the holy Quran is a great event in the history of mankind. It starts with a call for knowledge towards understanding the creator (Sura Alaq: 1-6) and finishes with the declaration of perfection of Islam as a creed and code of life and guide to action. (Verses 5:3, Sura An-Nasr: Ayat 110, Sura Baqara: 2:281).

Entire nature and universe, all physical processes and history have been presented by the holy Quran before us as admonition and object of demonstration, to convince humanity on the existence of ALLAH as the creator and sustainer of the universe and deepen our understanding of divine attributes and purpose of creation. ....

In the Quran, God speaks of creating everything in balance, and warns that transgression of balance shall have disastrous consequences. This holds true not just of the world around us, but also for our souls. The Quran confirms that God created Adam from clay, making man just another part of the physical world. Islam maintains that humanity is part of the extraordinary cosmic symphony…

Why Become a Hafidh or Hafidha

Why Become a Hafidh or Hafidha

Whatever pathway you lead in your life, if you want to be the best; the best doctor or teacher or mother or college student or engineer or social worker or artist, let learning and teaching the Qur’an also be a part of who you are…..

How do cells know how much to multiply or when to stop? Where does the command to start or stop come from? If no order to stop is received, do they themselves decide not to grow such as to inconvenience other organs? There is no doubt that there can be no question of unconscious cells doing any of these. It is Allah Who creates this miraculous process from start to finish and Who issues the requisite commands. Intelligence is essential even to understand the miraculous functioning of the organs in the body, and it is of course irrational and, quite frankly, unscientific to claim that they came into being by chance. Such flawless systems could never come into being as a result of a series of coincidences. The presence of such systems in the human body is evidence that they were created by Allah……

Moderation in the Qur'an
Hammudah Abdulati

One characteristic of the Qur'an is moderation or harmony between the divine and human, the spiritual and the material, the individual and the collective, and so on. The Qur'an pays due attention to all facts of life and all needs of man, and deals with them in such a way as to help man to realize the noble objectives of his being. For this approach of moderation, the Qur'an calls the Muslims a "middle nation" (Al-Baqarah 2:143), and with this "middleness" they are called the best people ever evolved for mankind, as they enjoin the right, combat the wrong, and believe in God (Aal `Imran 3:110). ….

Help one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety) (Al-Ma’idah 5:2) Allah has created the human being as a weak being who needs to cooperate continuously with his fellow human beings throughout his life. This is clear in the worldly affairs; man needs someone to sow for him and harvest for him.....

Guidance Comes Only From Allah
Harun Yahya
Guidance Comes Only From Allah
Harun Yahya

Human beings are created with a nature that takes pleasure in beauty, and with a desire to live in happiness and in well-being. Therefore, it is a completely natural human desire to be rid of unpleasant situations as quickly as possible, or to turn them into pleasant ones. In fact, having peace of mind and a healthy spirit are important factors for the health of the mind, as well as the body. This can be achieved by living by the Qur’an. It is for this reason that when some people act according to their feelings, desires and passions, without regard for the Qur'an's teaching, they become oppressed by sadness, worry and fear.......

In contrast to natural or man-made fibbers, the silk produced by spiders can harden or soften, meaning that it can bear different types of load. Compared with other materials used in web construction, spider silk is 6 times more resistant to falling branches or powerful winds. When any pressure is placed on a web, only a single strand will break, and instead of having to spin a whole new web the spider renews the web by just repairing one strand. Spider silk, less than 1/1000 millimetre in diameter, is 5 times stronger than steel wire of the same dimension. Despite being 5 times stronger than steel, the silk is also 30 percent more elastic than rubber and can stretch up to 4 times its own length…..

Allah the Almighty legislated acts of worship and obedience for great wisdom and sublime objectives. No wonder, as they strengthen the faith, purify the soul, correct the attitude and refine the morals. If acts of worship did not achieve these objectives, then the Muslim would not benefit from them properly…..

Fear of Allah means that a believer who loves Allah, who is genuinely devoted to Him and takes Him as his friend, will never behave in a way of which He will disapprove and strictly avoid any behaviour with which Allah would not be pleased. There is no doubt that in this brief test, fear of Allah will be a greatest support for the believer. He will always behave with fortitude in the face of the lower self, with its limitless desires, and of the snares of Shaitan, and will always take the most proper steps. He will have a most powerful faith, fearing nothing and none other than Allah…..

Pilgrims were reciting verses from the Holy Qur'an with tears rolling down their cheeks, or had their arms stretched out in prayers and supplications. Others, apparently tired from their long journey, slept with their prayer beads in their hands......

Haj is a trip of lifetime; it is only required once from a Muslim and it is only the first one that counts as the fulfilment of the obligation. All other performances of Haj are voluntary and cannot replace the compulsory Haj. Therefore, it is imperative that it is performed sincerely and correctly for the first time.  Though Haj can be quiet a journey, a little preparation and planning will, Insha’Allah make your journey much easier. This planning should not be limited to the logistics, but should also include spiritual, financial, physical and mental preparations….
