Equal Inheritance for Tunisian Women in the Offing
Hanen Jebli

The Quran mandates that men inherit two-thirds more than women, which is the basis for the law currently in place. For the moment, because the Quran directly addresses the issue of inheritance, it has received more attention than the other provisions in the proposed new law, such as those allowing Tunisian women to marry non-Muslims and permitting them status as head of household (or family)....

Do Not Stop the Women from the Masajid (Mosques)
Mirza Yawar Baig

Yes indeed, an all-woman or a women-only mosque is not from the Sunnah and would be an innovation in Islam. But then what do we say to an all-men or men-only mosque when it is well known that not only did Rasulullahﷺ permit women to attend Salah in Masjid An-Nabawi when he was himself the Imam and they attended Juma and his lectures and teachings regularly, but he specifically ordered us not to stop them from entering any Masjid? By this definition an all-men or men-only mosque is also an innovation and not from the Sunnah....

Tap the Untapped Potential of Women through Full Recognition in Society
Inamullah Marwat

Lack of holistic recognition of women in both the East and West has robbed the society of the balance that comes in the wake of gender inclusiveness in any society. There is still a long way to go to actualize gender inclusive society in which women don’t make compromise over being a woman in order to play a role in the mainstream on parity level...

Western countries associate Pakistani women with religious oppression and Islamic fundamentalists consider that the battle for women’s rights as a western conspiracy, but the reality was far more complicated. A specific ‘Patriarchal’ mindset was deeply instilled in Pakistani culture where poor and uneducated women struggles for essential rights, acceptance, recognition, and most importantly respect in a ‘man’s world’....

Women Being Tortured For Demanding Basic Rights in 'Reformist' Mohammed Bin Salman's Saudi Arabia
Hana Al-Khamri

But until recently, despite being abused, harassed and at times jailed, most Saudi women's rights activists were managing to avoid the full force of the regime's violence due to their high socioeconomic status. Their skin colour and religious and tribal identity were also playing a role in determining the level of abuse and harassment they were subjected once they were arrested. While undocumented female migrants and poor, underprivileged Saudi citizens were treated abominably in the kingdom's prisons....

In Palestine, Women Struggle Against Gendered Violence by Their Own Society and By the Israeli Occupation
Yara Hawari

The international community often likes to spin the issue with gendered violence in Palestine as if it's an "Arab problem" and Palestinian women need saving from Palestinian men. Such orientalist discourse propagates colonial views and white saviour-complex urges that are used to justify humanitarian interventionism. It is a frequently overlooked fact that Jewish women suffer from similar rates of gender-based violence within Israeli society....

Britain Refuses To Give Sanctuary to Asia Bibi Who Is In Hiding Having Been Threatened With Death after Her Release
Asia Bibi

The first she was aware of any trouble was hearing a low rumble of voices, then the terrifying chant: ‘Kill the Christian!’ She realised the men were coming for her and soon they appeared on a ridge. She had nowhere to run. In a panic, she stumbled, dizzy with fear, and a minute or so later felt hands roughly grab her arms and shoulders while another man fitted a leather noose around her neck. Hauled to her feet, she was paraded back to the village – led by the leather strap – and taken to a courtyard in the house of the village leader...
