موجودہ دور میں مسلمان ملک میں جن حالات سے گذر رہے ہیں یہ سب ہمارے اعمال کا نتیجہ ہے ہم نے دور اندیشی سے کام لیا ہوتا حکمت سے کام لیا ہوتا یا ان مفکروں کی باتوں کو قبول کیا ہوتا تو آج یہ دن دیکھنے کو نہیں ملتے ہم جذباتی علماؤں کے پیچھے بھاگتے رہے جو صحیح طریقے سے رہنمائی نہیں کی جن حالات کا ہم آج سامنا کررہے ہیں جن واقعات کے ہم چشم دیدہ گواہ ہیں وہ یکایک نہیں آئے بلکہ اس کے پیچھے کچھ جماعتیں اور تنظیمیں کئی دہوں سے مسلسل کام کرتی رہی ہیں جس کا نتیجہ آج بر آمد ہورہا ہے ہوسکتا ہے یہ شروعات ہو کیونکہ ملک کی اکثریت ان تنظیموں سے نہیں جڑی ہے اور اتفاق بھی نہیں کرتے ہیں جس دن وہ بھی ان کے ساتھ مل جائیں گے ملک کے حالات بد سے بد تر ہوسکتے ہیں ابھی تک جو ان کے ساتھ نہیں ہیں مسلمان ان کو اپنا دوست بنالیں اوران کا دل جیتیں دل جیتنے کے لئے کچھ قربانی بھی دینی پڑے گی اس میں ایک قربانی گاؤ کشی بھی ہوسکتی ہے۔

Here came Abu so-and-so to the land of Muslim scholarship and lectured the people on the intricacies of kufr, Taghut, Tawheed and the incompatibility of Islamic theology with democracy. Syrians didn’t need lessons in creed. They wanted to stop the barrel bombs from killing their children.....

 

The Qur'an is not a work of literary narrative, as is the Bible. As a scripture that provides guidance (Huda) and a reminder (Tadhkira) to humankind, it gives more emphasis to spiritual edifications than to providing a full account of facts. So, the Quran's main concern with the Jesus story, too, is not to give a full account of the Jesus story, but rather to put it in the right theological perspective......

Terms like myth, value, morality, religion, faith, atheism etc. suffer from certain imprecision in modern treatment. One might read Glossary of Terms used by Frithjof Schuon for more precise and traditionally grounded treatment. However, Khawja is more lucid for most of modern educated people. One can only thank him for formulating these theses. He is bound to receive more attention if Muslims are to more creatively engage with modernity....

At this moment, let us understand that Islam, like other Abrahamic religions, is a religion of books. Hence, who reads the books, and how, becomes critical to the manner in which the religion will manifest itself in practice. Texts are nothing without readers, and instead of looking at the words, it would be worthwhile to look at the people who are reading these texts, not just to themselves but also to their followers....

Finally, when the King was marching in his New Clothes it was a little ‘Malala’ in the crowd to shout, ‘the King has no clothes.’ On April 13 in the Parliament of Canada the real Malala of this era – not afraid of anyone, said aloud what the Ulema and scholars of Islam have been afraid to say: “when you pick up a gun in the name of Islam and kill innocent people, you are not a Muslim anymore.”….

Clearly, the procedure laid down in the laws of these Muslim-majority countries seems to be in harmony with the well-known Quranic procedure of Talaq, which was also enshrined and exhorted by the Prophet. As far as Iran and its strict Shariah laws are concerned, since it is the Shiite-majority country in the Muslim world, triple Talaq doesn’t have a validity whatsoever.....
