Progressive Western women converting to Islam, sharing reasons on social media since 10/7 Hamas attack
November 20, 2023

Young Western women inspired to convert
to Islam as war rages in Middle East
-------------
A growing number of young, progressive Western women are converting to Islam, citing the Israel-Hamas war as motivation for the conversion – and they're documenting their journey on social media.
Hoover Institution research fellow Ayaan Hirsi Ali issued a warning on the new trend during "America's Newsroom," arguing young women are "throwing away" their freedom with the decision.
"You are converting to throwing away your freedoms as a woman," Ali told Dana Perino on Monday. "Islamic scripture, Islamic law, Sharia law and Islamic practice is crystal clear about the position of women, and it's inferior to men. Your testimony is half that of a man. Your husband can beat you. You have absolutely no freedom."
"Everything is about your guardian having authority over you. First your male father, and then later on your male husband, and if those aren't even available, even your own male son has authority over you," she continued. "So if that's what they want to revert to, good luck with that."
The left-leaning women making the decision to convert have shared their religious diversion on TikTok, with many wearing the hijab, reading the Quran, attending pro-Palestinian protests and even learning Arabic as they accuse Israel of genocide.
One activist, Alex, who is a self-proclaimed "leftist queer gremlin," took her shahada shortly after purchasing the Quran, to officially dedicate herself to the Islamic faith.
She was supposedly inspired by another social media user, Megan Rice, after she detailed the Palestinians' "ironclad faith" in wake of the war. She claimed Israel's retaliation after October 7 spurred her interest in conversion.
Now, she wears a hijab and holds live readings of the Quran after founding the virtual World Religion Book Club.
But even as critics say the trend is a "rebellion" against Western culture, Ali argued the renewed interest in the religion is symbolic of a "confused" generation that is battling "moral dislocation."
"I think that's a manifestation of the moral dislocation of the West that we're going through," Ali said. "I think we've failed these young people… Campuses are politicized. They use the word hate this and safe to death, but it's really the introduction of a political ideology that is anti-Western. It's anti-American. It's all about tearing things down."
"Now you have a generation… the latter numbers, the ones who are born later, the millennials and then the Gen Zs, who are completely and utterly confused about who they are and where they stand," she continued.
War has raged in the Middle East since Hamas massacred more than 1,200 Israelis on October 7. The terrorist group reportedly burned people alive, including children, and raped and paraded women's bodies in the streets of Gaza as part of the heinous attack on the Jewish state.
As a result, many pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli protesters have taken to the streets in major cities and even across college campuses as some universities garner backlash for refusing to condemn antisemitism in wake of the war.
Ali argued the United Nations failed in standing up for women post-massacre since the institution is "corrupt," and noted how "shocking" it is to see women have converted to the religion following the unprecedented attack.
"I think the United Nations has failed in that because the United Nations is corrupt as an institution and has been so now for many decades," Ali said. "They've been co-opted by the people who want to erase Israel. What happened to young women on the 7th of October wasn't the secret. It's not something that you have to investigate. Hamas paraded these women, the rapes, all of that is on these GoPro cameras, and it's there for the whole world to see."
"It's shocking that women are converting to Islam after they've seen those images," she continued. "The MeToo movement is completely silent on this. All other prominent Western feminists are completely silent on this, but every weekend and every week now, we see hundreds of thousands of people, well-educated, privileged, who call themselves progressives marching – for what? Marching for the… supporters of Hamas to erase the only Democratic nation in the Middle East."

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — Santa Clara County has now reached a $90,000 settlement with a Muslim woman who was denied her right to wear her hijab during her time in jail.
Court records show in October 2022, Asia Aden was told to remove her hijab during the booking process.
She complied but did not get it back until after she was released.
Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office has now implemented a religious service policy where she and others will be offered a pat search in private or outside the presence of men, and the opportunity to take a booking photo wearing their hijab.
The new policy will also allow women to keep their hijab or receive a jail-issued religious covering while in custody.

CAIR Welcomes D.C. Metro Transit Police Finally Releasing Photo on Beheading Threat Against Palestinian Muslim Woman, Seeks Public Support to ID Suspect
Ismail Allison
November 20, 2023
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/20/23) – The
Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil
rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed action from the D.C. Metro
Transit Police Department to identify the suspect allegedly heard making
threats to behead a Palestinian Muslim woman on the D.C. Metro in mid-October.
On Friday, the Metro Transit Police Department shared a photo of the suspect and called on the public to help in identifying him on the social media platform X.
On October 18, a Palestinian Muslim woman and two friends were traveling on the Orange Line of the D.C. Metro on their way to a peaceful protest for Palestinian human rights when a white male individual was reportedly heard on video threatening to behead her and reportedly flashed a firearm before exiting the train.
The woman and her friends wore Palestine-related clothing, such as the keffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian scarf, and carried several signs, including one that read “Free Palestine.”
On Thursday, CAIR called on the Metro Transit Police Department to identify and arrest the suspect. On Friday, CAIR held a news conference with the alleged victim to highlight inaction by the police until that date.
In a statement, CAIR Research & Advocacy Coordinator Farah Afify said:
“We welcome the recent action taken by Metro Transit Police to finally take this threat against a Palestinian Muslim woman seriously.
“Threats against Muslims, Palestinians, and Arab-Americans continue to rise across the country as we witness an unprecedented surge in bigotry. Actions taken to identify and arrest those making such threats send a clear message that this kind of anti-Muslim and anti-Arab rhetoric and hate is not welcome or tolerated.”
She urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Metro Transit Police Department immediately.
Afify also encouraged those experiencing similar acts of aggression, racism, and Islamophobia to call their local CAIR offices and report these incidents immediately.

Rising online violence against Afghan women amid widespread restrictions

Anonymous Accounts on X, formerly known as Twitter/Independent Persian Network.
-------------
Recent research shows that online violence against Afghan women has surged this year due to the severe restrictions on their fundamental rights.
On Monday, the Afghan Witness Organization, based in London, released the findings of their new research regarding the surge in online violence against women’s rights activists.
The findings of this organization indicate that online violence against Afghan women activists, especially those active on social media platforms, has been on the rise and has silenced women in some cases. According to the report, over the past two years following the Taliban rise, instances of nasty posts against women have tripled, effectively silencing “women political activists in Afghanistan.”
The report, which examined 78,000 posts in Persian and Pashto on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, about 100 active Afghan women, covers a specific time frame during which such incidents have tripled compared to the same period in previous years.
Research by the Afghan Witness Organization reveals that most of these posts are generated by “Taliban supporters” and are disseminated on social media platforms: “Low-ranking Taliban members and social media users sympathetic to the Taliban often lurk behind these nasty posts.”
Francesca Gentile, one of the researchers involved in this study, commented on the results, stating that “since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, social media has transformed from a space for expressing social and political views into a hub for harassing, intimidating, and suppressing women.”
She, who was present throughout the research process and the analysis of the published posts, emphasizes that “we have witnessed a wave of some of the most violent and vile messages targeting Afghan women. These messages are often sent as private messages and are simultaneously violent, threatening, and sexually explicit.”
The findings of this study indicate that women and girls in Afghanistan have not only been deprived of their fundamental rights but are also confronted with a toxic virtual space that silences them.

Rising suicides and child marriages in Afghanistan: Rawadari Report
Fidel Rahmati
November 20, 2023
A human rights organization in Afghanistan known as “Rawadari” has reported in its latest release, marking World Children’s Day, an alarming increase in various forms of violence against children in Afghanistan. This includes forced and early marriages, instances of self-harm, and violence within educational environments.
The organization “Rawadari,” led by the former chairperson of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, Shahzad Akbar, emphasized in its latest report published on Sunday that the “laws protecting children, which had criminalized violent behaviours,” were revoked after the return of the Taliban administration, resulting in detrimental consequences for the human rights situation of children.
The documents from the Rawadari organization shed light on numerous violations of children’s rights in Afghanistan, with a predominant focus on girls.
This report examines the state of children from August 2021 to October 2023. The investigation involved interviews with 181 defence lawyers, judicial and legal personnel, victims, and their family members. Conversations were held with 139 males, 30 females, and 12 children across 25 Afghan provinces.
Rawadari hasn’t provided specific statistics on child rights violations over these two years. Still, it has highlighted cases of self-harm, forced marriages by members of the Taliban administration, early marriages, violence, and mistreatment of children in educational settings, as well as the recruitment of children as soldiers.
Local sources in Ghazni province have informed Rwadari that forced and underage marriages have increased significantly in this region. One documented case in Rawadari’s research reveals that a 17-year-old girl was forced into marriage without consent on October 22, 2022, leading to her tragic suicide. Another case involves a 15-year-old girl who was compelled into a forced marriage after being denied an education.
Underage Girls Forced into Marriages by Taliban Members
The Rawadari report reveals that despite the Taliban’s leadership order prohibiting underage marriages, this directive has not been adequately enforced. Commanders of the Taliban in various provinces have continued to engage in marriages with underage girls.
The report states, “In Nimroz province, a local Taliban official forcibly married a 13-year-old girl. Due to economic difficulties and security concerns, the victim’s family could not raise objections to this incident. In another case in Maidan Wardak province, a girl was married off by force before reaching the legal age of marriage for a sum of 600,000 Afghanis.”
In a similar incident, it has been reported that another Taliban commander in Imam Sahib District of Kunduz province married a 15-year-old girl without her family’s consent, despite having two other wives.
Another instance highlighted concerns a Taliban commander in the Darqad district of Takhar province who married a girl as his third wife on August 26, 2022.
Rawadari has also noted similar cases in Maidan Wardak province. They emphasize that many similar incidents have occurred in eastern provinces but are less publicized due to security concerns and cultural sensitivities.
Surge in suicide attempts among children
According to the Rawadari organization’s report, suicide attempts among children have increased in the past two years due to various reasons, including poverty and financial pressures. The organization, citing health centres in Bamyan province, has stated that 50% of the total recorded cases of suicide attempts in this province involve girls under the age of 18.
Local sources in Ghur province have reported a significant increase in child suicides. Additionally, this report has mentioned at least 35 cases of suicide in Badakhshan province, involving both boys and girls.
This report describes the factors contributing to child suicides as mostly family mistreatment, forced and early marriages, deprivation of the right to education, and despair, which have been exacerbated since the rise of the Taliban in the country.
Violence and mistreatment of children in schools and religious schools (Madrasa)
Recent research continues to show that over the past two years, the Taliban administration has placed its targeted individuals in positions of leadership, authority, and teaching in schools. These individuals, primarily graduates of religious schools, have contributed to violence and the punishment of children in the educational environment.
One source in Kandahar province has reported that the Taliban has placed its targeted individuals in various educational positions, leading to an increase in instances of punishment, including beating with sticks, using rulers, electric shocks, kicking, caning, boxing, pulling ears and hair, placing pens between fingers, making children stand on one leg, putting shoes in children’s mouths, suffocation, and forced labour.
Reports from organizations continue to highlight cases of sexual abuse in schools, citing several incidents in Badakhshan and Herat provinces where children endure sexual abuse. However, they cannot disclose these abuses due to concerns for their safety and cultural sensitivities.
According to some reports, children in Helmand province are being subjected to military training under the pretext of teaching religious studies, and in some cases, they are recruited as soldiers.
Meanwhile, on November 20th, the United Nations stated on the occasion of Universal Children’s Day that the rights of children are under attack in some parts of the world.
Samiullah Ebrahimi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Taliban, has denied these claims and asserted that the allegations from the organization are not accurate. He claimed that approximately 10,000 children are supported in the country’s orphanages.

AsraNomani SCHOOLS Susan Sarandon on What it Means to be a Muslim Woman in America in POWERFUL Post
November 20, 2023
AsraNomani is a warrior in Virginia who really started making a name for herself when Ralph Northam and other overbearing, authoritarian Democrats were doing their best to hold education hostage from Virginian children to placate and pander to the teacher's unions during the 'pandemic.' She refused to sit by silently as schools across the state kept kids out of the classrooms while Northam smiled and pretended it was to keep us all safe.
This editor is still pissed about it.
Nomani is a force to be reckoned with in so many ways, and this post she wrote to Susan Sarandon (who has done nothing but attack the West since Hamas ATTACKED Israel) about what it really means to be a Muslim woman in America is spectacular.
Now, her entire post is brilliant and beautiful (and quite long) so we just snagged a portion of what she wrote. We encourage you to take a look at the entire post but in the meantime, here is our favorite part:
Where do you think I came to give birth to my baby in safety and security, without shame? West by God Virginia in the United States of America — where we enjoy equal rights as Muslim AmeriCANs, not AmeriCANTs.
This is a “taste” of life for a Muslim family in America. Please don’t minimize the experience of Jewish Americans by sanitizing the hell that it is for Muslims living in Muslim countries and vilifying America for the life — and freedoms — she offers Muslims like my family.

Israel Shares Video Of Hamas Gunman Killing Woman At October 7 Music Fest
November 21, 2023
Jerusalem: Israel on Monday released security camera footage from Oct. 7, which shows Hamas gunmen who crossed into Israel chase people from an outdoor music festival, with one seen executing a woman at point-blank range.
Israel is seeking to fend off international criticism for its response to the Hamas rampage, which sparked a devastating war in Gaza. Despite mounting calls for a ceasefire, Israel has said it will push on with its campaign until Hamas is eradicated.
"This is a war between good and evil," said a post shared on social media with the video footage by an account linked to Israel's Foreign Ministry.
The video shows people running from Hamas gunmen as they tried to escape a festival near the border on Oct. 7 that turned into a massacre.
At the end of the video, in the background, one of the women being chased squats on the ground, a gunman next to her. Moments later, the gunman raises his rifle and fires from close range at the woman, who falls over.
The video had no audio, but a cloud of dust rises from the ground as he pulled the trigger.
The woman was not identified by name.
Reuters verified the location of the footage, near Kibbutz Alumim, by the road layout, trees and a nearby building that matched the satellite imagery of the area.
Pressure is mounting on Israel to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza, where the Hamas-run government says at least 13,300 people have been killed, including at least 5,600 children.
Israeli officials say they are intent on keeping focus on the killing by Hamas of some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and the capture of 240 others during the deadliest day in Israel's 75-year-old history.
There has been strong support and sympathy for Israel from Western governments and many citizens over the Hamas attacks, but the Israeli response has also prompted anger.

Helping Jewish women and children who are suffering from abuse in Arab villages
Nov 21, 2023
These days we are in the middle of a horrible war and unfortunately, we have many heavy losses. The organization which is dealing with some of these war results is “Or Leachim”, which was established and created with the blessing and recommendations of the great rabbis of Israel. This organization enables care for all the thousands of Jewish women and children who are in the Arab villages, and allows us to fight against the mission of the enemy.
Now, especially because it’s a time of war, the emergency call center of “Or Leachim” is collapsing due to all the new applications and requests from countless Jewish women who want help in rescuing and saving them and their children from within the Arab villages.
“Or Leachim” runs a designated shelter just for this cause, where these women and children are brought in. Both a social worker and a psychologist are provided to help each woman through the rehabilitation process. Each person is provided with food & clothing, and the children are taught the language, all to enable a complete recovery.
Because of the high demand and all the many inquiries “Or Leachim” has been receiving nowadays, another apartment is being prepared that will serve as an additional initial shelter for the many women who need to be rescued these days.
Be a part of the mitzvah of “Pidyon Shvuyim” – redeeming Jewish captives, one of the most important and great mitzvot, and take part in rescuing these Jewish women from the Arab villages. The donations that will be received will immediately assist in the rescue operations and in constructing and creating an additional hiding place and shelter of “Or Leachim”.
“There is no greater mitzvah than the mitzvah of redeeming captives” (Rambam)

Hijab Monitors Ramp Up Harassment Against Women in Tehran’s Subway
21st November 2023
Mostafa Aslani
In recent days, images depicting the Tehran subway have surfaced on social media, revealing a new cadre of individuals associated with the self-proclaimed Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.
Officially unaffiliated, this group, comprised of both men and women, many of whom obscure their faces, identifies as ‘Ambassadors of Guidance.’ Positioned along the subway corridors leading to exits, they confront and admonish women not adhering to hijab, even resorting to photographing them without consent.
Disturbingly, some members of this group verbally assault women and girls in an egregious manner. Unidentified individuals in plain clothes surreptitiously film people’s faces without permission.
An image from Enghelab Metro featuring these emerging patrols has circulated, yet no official statements have been issued regarding the identity of these individuals or their overarching organization.
In response, the Farhikhtegan newspaper, while acknowledging the situation, attempts to downplay the illicit presence of hijab monitors and other informal groups in public spaces.
The newspaper contends that the demeanor of these agents is ‘soft’ and their warnings ‘non-serious.’ However, the report also reveals the intricate layers of these patrols, acknowledging their multifaceted nature.
The newspaper discloses, “From the very beginning of the Valiasr-Jomhuri street intersection, there is a lady wearing a chador and covering her face with a mask, who quietly reminds passers-by to wear the hijab.
A police officer is also standing next to the hijab observer woman.” Additionally, near the subway entrance, two chador-clad women, accompanied by a sizable police presence, caution women entering the subway without a shawl or headscarf to adhere to hijab.
The report delves into the various layers of hijab monitors, detailing their locations and methods. Critically, the newspaper questions the legality of capturing images of subway passengers, emphasizing the lack of clarity regarding the institution responsible for obtaining these pictures and the authority granting permission for such intrusive actions. This invasive conduct has understandably provoked the ire of citizens.
Social media users, reflecting on the atmosphere at Teatr-e Shahr (City Theater) metro station, have echoed these concerns. Last week, reports emerged of confrontations between hijab monitors and several women at this metro station.
It is essential to note that the compulsory hijab policy in Iran has long been a subject of contention. Enforced by the government, particularly since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the mandatory veiling of women has been a symbol of the regime’s control over personal freedoms.
Women who resist or protest against this requirement often face harsh consequences, including arrests, fines, and social ostracism. The instances of harassment by self-appointed hijab monitors, as described above, exemplify the oppressive environment that many Iranian women endure daily, illustrating the broader issue of systemic gender-based discrimination and restrictions on individual liberties within the country.
In the midst of this unsettling intrusion of hijab monitors in Tehran’s subway, it is imperative to acknowledge the broader context of civil unrest and protests against the Iranian regime. The catalyst for this upheaval was the tragic death of MahsaAmini in police custody, an incident that sparked widespread outrage.
Amini’s arrest on September 13, 2022, by the Guidance Patrol for alleged violations of Iran’s mandatory hijab law escalated into a horrifying episode of brutality. Witnesses attested to the severe beating she endured at the hands of Guidance Patrol officers, leading to her eventual collapse, hospitalization, and tragic demise three days later.
The aftermath of Amini’s death saw an unprecedented wave of protests beginning on September 16, 2022, continuing into 2023. These demonstrations have been described as the most significant challenge to the regime since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, representing a widespread and profound revolt against the oppressive policies in place.
The response from the Iranian regime included widespread Internet blackouts, restrictions on social media, and the deployment of tear gas and gunfire—a stark reminder of the lengths to which the regime will go to suppress dissent.
As the nation grapples with these complex issues, the subway harassment described earlier serves as a microcosm of the larger struggle for individual freedoms and human rights within Iran.
