India Cannot Become ‘Vishwaguru’ Without Justice for Muslims: Owaisi

Team Clarion

April 25, 2026

NEW DELHI — Addressing a public meeting in Bhuj in Gujarat’s Kutch region ahead of local body elections scheduled for April 26, AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday raised a range of issues concerning the Muslim community, including India’s ambition of becoming a “Vishwaguru” or global leader.

“If this country is to become a Vishwaguru or a superpower, it cannot happen until Muslims of India get their rights,” he was quoted as saying.

Urging voters to support AIMIM candidates in the upcoming local body polls, including seats in the Bhuj municipality and various taluka panchayats, Owaisi said Muslims must move beyond being “mere voters” and focus on building their own political leadership.

“For 70 years, we have only been voters. Because of that, we have fallen behind in every field,” he added, arguing that lack of political representation has impacted access to education, healthcare and infrastructure in Muslim-dominated areas.

He said the Constitution gives every community the right to build political leadership and stressed that without it, ideals such as equality and justice would remain incomplete.

“A leader will not fall from the sky. A poor man’s son or daughter from among you will rise and change the condition of the community,” he said.

The AIMIM chief also criticised both the BJP and the Congress, accusing them of misleading people about his party for political gain.

Targeting the proposed Uniform Civil Code, Owaisi described it as a direct attempt to interfere with the personal laws of minorities.

“If a Muslim wants to marry or distribute property, they will be told not to follow Shariah but other laws. This is a direct violation of Article 25,” he said.

He also criticised the Centre over recent changes to Waqf laws, alleging that they would allow authorities to take control of mosques, dargahs and graveyards.

Owaisi further targeted ongoing demolition drives in Gujarat, questioning their impact on society and urging people to reflect on them.

Condemning what he termed “bulldozer politics”, he said governance should be guided by the Constitution and not arbitrary actions.

US President Donald Trump has cancelled his envoys’ visit to Pakistan for negotiations, saying Iran did not make a satisfactory offer for a peace deal.

Trump’s announcement followed the departure of Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi from Pakistan, where he presented mediators with a potential framework for ending the conflict.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has told Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that Tehran will not enter into negotiations with the US under pressure, threats or siege.

Israel has carried out more attacks in southern Lebanon after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu orders “forceful” strikes, accusing Hezbollah of sabotaging peace efforts.

Iran’s Judiciary chief warns US defeats in Isfahan, Tabas will be repeated in Persian Gulf

26-04-2026

Iran’s Judiciary chief has warned that Washington lacks the capability to impose a naval siege on the Islamic Republic, vowing that the historic defeats of American forces at Tabas and Isfahan will be repeated in the waters of the Persian Gulf.

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei wrote that April 25, the anniversary of the humiliating defeat of US military personnel in Tabas, now carries a different meaning for the people of Islamic Iran.

The reference to Tabas pertains to Operation Eagle Claw, the failed US military mission in April 1980 to retrieve American detainees in Tehran, which ended in a desert sandstorm collision that killed eight US troops.

“The defeated enemy commandos, in the recent war, were brought down this time in Isfahan and suffered a heavy and instructive defeat at the hands of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Ejei stated.

In a stunning display of coordinated defensive warfare, Iranian forces, combining the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), police commando units, Basij resistance fighters, and regular army elements, destroyed two American C-130 transport planes and two Black Hawk helicopters in southern Isfahan province during the US-Israeli aggression.

Images of burning wreckage, geolocated and verified by Press TV, circulated across global platforms, drawing immediate and unavoidable comparisons to Operation Eagle Claw.

“The Americans should know that they do not have the capability to impose a naval siege on Iran either; Isfahan and Tabas will be repeated once again in the waters of the Persian Gulf,” he added.

Iran says it will not accept diktats or conditions imposed by the United States and will not negotiate under the shadow of threats.

Bangladesh issues nationwide security alert over possible militant attacks

---------

Bangladesh Police issued a nationwide security alert over possible militant attacks on key installations, including the Parliament complex, officials and media reports said on Saturday (April 25, 2026).

"The alert has been issued based on intelligence reports,” a police headquarters (PHQ) official said, requesting anonymity. The official described the alert as “urgent and confidential”.

A PHQ letter warned of possible coordinated attacks targeting the Parliament complex, places of worship, entertainment facilities, and military and police installations, with armouries seen as potential targets, Bengali daily Prothom Alo reported.

The Daily Star and other newspapers said the alert was issued after the recent arrest of a banned militant outfit operative, Istiak Ahmed Sami alias Abu Bakkar, who was allegedly in contact with two dismissed military personnel.

According to reports, the letter also included profiles of two alleged key planners behind the potential attacks, but did not name any organisation. It described the suspected perpetrators as “extremely dangerous for the overall security of the country”.

The PHQ directed specialised police units, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Special Branch (SB), and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit, to heighten vigilance, while regular police across the country have been asked to remain on high alert.

A police chief in a western district confirmed receipt of the letter, saying security measures had been stepped up in stations under his jurisdiction.

Bangladesh had witnessed an upsurge of extremist forces in the past 18 months during the Muhammad Yunus-led interim regime, following the ouster of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League Government in August 2024 after a violent student-led street protest dubbed the 'July Uprising'.

Officials earlier said hundreds of inmates, including death row convicts and Islamists, still remained fugitive since a series of jail breaks during the July Uprising.

Some jailed leaders of banned outfits, including Ansarullah Bangla Team chief Jasimuddin Rahmani, were released on bail during the interim period.

Prisons chief Brigadier General Syed Motaher Hossain had said that around 2,700 inmates escaped during the violence, of whom about 700 were still on the run. He said several militants were among the fugitives, while firearms were also looted from prison guards.

In one of the major incidents, attackers stormed a prison in Narsingdi in July 2024, freeing over 800 inmates and setting parts of the facility on fire. Another jailbreak at Kashimpur High Security Jail in Gazipur saw over 200 prisoners escape after guards were taken hostage.

SIBU, April 26 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has urged experienced individuals and higher education institutions to collaborate in conducting research and documenting the history of Sarawak’s multi-ethnic communities.

He said much of this history remains undocumented, particularly aspects related to culture, ethnic origins and the development of the state’s diverse communities.

WASHINGTON, April 25 — The European Union and United States signed an agreement yesterday to coordinate on the supply of critical minerals needed for key industries including...

“Efforts to document this history are important as a guide and source of inspiration for the younger generation to understand how a multi-ethnic society can live in unity while jointly developing the state,” he said.

He added that collaboration between Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), cultural and language associations, and alumni groups should be strengthened to carry out research on local community life.

“If we do not learn from history, past mistakes are likely to be repeated. History must serve as a strength for us to develop the state and the nation,” he said when launching the book titled ‘Secebis Kisah Perjuangan Bangsa: Ikhlasnya Pengorbanan Indahnya Kemerdekaan’, written by the late Hamdan Marais, also known as Pak Den, here today.

Fadillah said the publication of the book is important in documenting the nation’s struggle, particularly in Sarawak, so that it can serve as a reference for future generations.

He said the sacrifices of past fighters, who faced various challenges including the loss of lives, property and freedom, must be appreciated and serve as lessons.

“Such sacrifices would hold no meaning without sincerity, determination and commitment. This is an important message that must be understood by today’s younger generation,” he said.

As a show of support, he announced that funding would be provided to print about 5,000 copies of the book for distribution throughout Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.

He expressed hope that the book would be used in schools and educational institutions as reference material to foster a spirit of patriotism among the younger generation.

Meanwhile, a representative of the late author’s family, Medina Hamdan, said the publication of the book fulfils his wish to document his life experiences, including the history of the rise of the Malay community in Sibu.

She said the family was deeply affected by his passing, but was grateful that the work had been successfully published for public reading.

“We hope this book will benefit present and future generations in understanding and appreciating the past struggles that have contributed to the nation’s progress,” she said.

According to her, the book also highlights the history of Malay settlements in Sibu, resistance against colonial rule, as well as the establishment of Pemuda Melayu Sibu based on the late author’s own experiences.

Giorgia Meloni instantaneously deports imam who encourages little girls to get married

De Andreea Scridon

26 aprilie 2026

Italian authorities have deported a Pakistani imam after comments he made on television defending child marriage prompted public outrage and a swift government response led by Giorgia Meloni.

Officials said he was expelled under national security provisions that allow authorities to deport non-citizens considered a threat to public order or social stability.

The case came to light following an undercover segment broadcast on Italian program Fuori dal Coro. In the report, a journalist posing as a prospective convert to Islam asked questions about marriage practices

During the exchange, Kashif allegedly stated that girls could marry after reaching puberty and suggested that nine-year-olds could wed significantly older men.

The footage, aired on Rete 4, triggered widespread criticism and prompted authorities in the northern city of Brescia to review the material. Local police commissioner Paolo Sartori subsequently ordered Kashif’s deportation.

Officials said the decision was based on Article 4 of Italy’s Consolidated Law on Immigration, which permits the removal of foreign nationals deemed a risk to public safety. Authorities also noted that Kashif did not hold a valid residence permit at the time, having previously been denied renewal.

Following the order, Kashif was escorted by police to Milan’s Malpensa Airport and placed on a flight to Islamabad, with a stopover in Bangkok.

The deportation has drawn political attention in Italy, where lawmakers have pointed to the case as evidence of the need for stricter enforcement against practices seen as incompatible with national law. The government has reiterated its position on safeguarding public order and addressing what it describes as extremist or harmful interpretations of religious doctrine.

Donald Trump evacuated after shots fired during White House Correspondents' Dinner

Apr 26, 2026

US President Donald Trump was evacuated after shots were fired during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night, triggering panic inside the packed banquet hall.

President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were immediately evacuated from the ballroom by tactical teams and moved to a secure location.

Authorities have identified the suspected gunman as a 30-year-old man from California, according to multiple law enforcement officials briefed on the latest developments, as cited by CNN.

Separately, sources familiar with the matter told Fox News that an individual attempted to pass through security screening with a firearm but was intercepted by the Secret Service before reaching the ballroom. The suspect was subsequently taken "offsite".

Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the suspected “shooter” has been apprehended, while commending law enforcement. He also called for the event to proceed as planned.

Later, the suspect was identified as a 30-year-old male from California, who has been taken into custody by the United States Secret Service. News agency Associated Press reported that gunman's name is Cole Tomas Allen.

According to multiple media reports citing cabinet member and attendees, five to eight shots were fired. Officer shot in bullet-resistant vest at correspondents' dinner but is expected to be OK, reports AP, quoting law enforcement official.

Members of the National Guard took positions inside as authorities locked down the premises, allowing people to exit but not re-enter, with tight security maintained outside. The United States Secret Service has taken a suspect into custody, though further details on the incident are awaited.

The Washington Hilton, the longtime venue for the White House Correspondents' Dinner, typically remains open to the public during the event, allowing regular guests to access the hotel as usual, as cited by AP.

Security measures are generally concentrated around the ballroom where the dinner is held, with comparatively limited screening for individuals who are not attending the event itself.

'YouTuber signed for Bollywood biopic': How Salim Khan became 'ex-Muslim Salim Wastik'; arrested after 31 years

Apr 26, 2026

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police’s crime branch has arrested a prominent YouTuber for murdering a 13-year-old boy after kidnapping him for ransom 31 years ago. On the run after jumping bail in 2000, Salim Khan became Salim Wastik and courted fame and danger with his views on Islam and national security on YouTube. Police said Salim was even signed for a Bollywood biopic recently.

It was fame that landed ‘exMuslim Salim Wastik’ in the police net: a head constable supplied the valuable tip and a team tracking parole-jumbers put the pieces together with some old photos of Salim’s.

The YouTuber had a brush with police this Feb when he was stabbed by two brothers at his office in Loni, Ghaziabad. Salim suffered multiple wounds to the neck and abdomen. Police identified the attackers as “fanatics” outraged by his religious commentary. In the following weeks, both attackers were gunned down in encounters, while UP police provided Salim with personal security officers.

By the time Salim recovered from his injuries, the crime branch had connected the dots and moved in to arrest him, ending a chase that began 26 years ago.

RSS Leader’s Remarks on Muslim Origins Spark Debate on Identity and History

Team Clarion

April 25, 2026

NEW DELHI — Remarks by senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Dattatreya Hosabale have triggered a fresh debate on identity, history and inter-community relations in India.

Speaking during an interaction in the United States, Hosabale said that “99.9% of Muslims in India are of Indian origin and their ancestors were Hindus.”

He added that Indian Muslims are “an integral part of society” and that while their mode of worship may have changed, their roots and nationality remain the same.

The comments echo earlier statements by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who has repeatedly said that Muslims in India share a common civilisational background, differing primarily in religious practices.

Hosabale also said the organisation has engaged with members of the Muslim community in recent years to address misunderstandings. “There is a need to remove tensions that arise due to conspiracies and political interests,” he said.

Anne Hathaway’s inshallah moment goes viral. Here’s what it means, when it can be used

Apr 26, 2026

Melbourne, Three days ago, People magazine posted a clip from an interview with actor Anne Hathaway, who is currently on a global press tour. One of the questions concerned Hathaway's feelings about ageing. In her response, she – a non-Muslim – casually threw the word "inshallah" in mid-sentence.

The reaction was big. The clip quickly went viral, with the incident reported on Al Jazeera, Grazia, and HuffPost, among others. Why has this moment struck such a chord with Muslims and Arabs worldwide?

The term is most commonly associated with Muslims, as the explicit exhortation to use "inshaallah" appears in the Quran, a revelation Muslims believe was first received by Muhammad in 610 CE.

Chapter 18, verses 23-24, instructs people not to say "I will do that in the future" without adding "inshaallah" – if God wills. Muslims regularly use the phrase in daily life as an affirmation that, ultimately, everything is under divine – not human – control.

US president cancels envoy trip to Pakistan for ceasefire talks – as it happened

26-04-2026

Hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough in the US-Israeli war in Iran have receded, with talks aimed at ending the two-month conflict at a standstill and both Tehran and Washington showing little willingness to soften their terms.

The Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araqchi has left mediator Pakistan empty-handed, and US president Donald Trump cancelled a planned visit to Islamabad by his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, dealing back-to-back blows to peace prospects. Araqchi described his visit to Pakistan as “very fruitful”.

Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian told Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif by phone that Tehran would not enter “imposed negotiations” under threats or blockade, according to a statement from the Iranian government.

Pezeshkian said the US should first remove “operational obstacles”, including its blockade on Iranian ports, before negotiators can lay any groundwork to resolve the conflict.

No Iran-US peace talks 2.0! How Pakistan's bid to mediate a breakthrough fell short

Apr 25, 2026

In a high-stakes diplomatic push, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held talks with Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad on Saturday.

Araghchi arrived in Islamabad carrying Tehran’s formal response to US proposals, with discussions focusing on the 'regional situation' and ceasefire dynamics. The meeting saw the presence of Pakistan’s top civilian and military leadership, including army chief Asim Munir and deputy PM Ishaq Dar.

Applauding the visit and calling it 'fruitful', Araghchi in a post on X wrote, "Very fruitful visit to Pakistan, whose good offices and brotherly efforts to bring back peace to our region we very much value. Shared Iran's position concerning workable framework to permanently end the war on Iran. Have yet to see if the US is truly serious about diplomacy."

Despite Pakistan’s attempts to broker talks, no direct or indirect engagement took place between Iran and the United States. Tehran made it clear it would not meet the visiting US delegation, which included Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner.

Sheikh Khatib: Islam's victory is closer than ever before

Dalit Halevi

Apr 26, 2026

Kamal Khatib, a senior figure among Israel’s Arab leadership and former deputy leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement, called on young Muslims to remain committed to Islam in an article he published.

He warned the younger generation against distancing themselves from religion, describing it as a serious mistake for those who fail to understand its power.

In the article, published on the “Yafa 48" website, Khatib cautioned against turning away from Islam, urging readers to have patience and strengthen their faith. He added that the “dawn of Islam" has already arrived, pointing to a process of growing strength and claiming that redemption for Muslims is near.

In his sermons, Khatib presents Islamic sources supporting the struggle over “Palestine" and against the Western world, asserting that Islam’s victory will come in accordance with the prophecy of Mohammed.

Pezeshkian: Iran will not negotiate under pressure, threats, or siege

Apr 26, 2026

Pars Today — In his fifth phone conversation with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the President of Iran, while outlining the obstacles hindering the diplomatic process, has emphasized that as long as the hostile actions and operational pressures of the United States are not halted, rebuilding trust and making progress on the path of dialogue will face difficulty.

According to Pars Today, Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, in their fifth telephone conversation following the aggressive invasion by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, discussed the latest status of political and field developments, the process of stabilizing the ceasefire, and the pursuit of diplomatic initiatives in Islamabad.

In this phone conversation, the President of Iran, referring to America's recent actions to escalate field and maritime restrictions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, described these actions as a serious obstacle to any trust-building process and the advancement of diplomacy. He stated: In a situation where, on one hand, messages regarding dialogue and negotiation are being conveyed, the simultaneous intensification of the maritime siege and the continuation of operational pressures effectively disrupt the necessary atmosphere for fostering mutual trust.

Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran was not the initiator of war and has never sought to expand insecurity in the region, he added: However, the continuation of America's hostile actions, including the maritime siege, is inconsistent with this country's declared claims of desiring a political settlement, and this very contradiction has increased the level of distrust among the Iranian nation and among the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Khatam al-Anbia warns US against continuation of blockade

TEHRAN, Apr. 25 (MNA) – The Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters of Iran warned that continued acts of blockade and maritime piracy by the United States will trigger a strong response from the Iranian Armed Forces.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters stressed that if the US aggressive military continues naval blockade, banditry, and piracy in the region, it will face a response from Iran’s powerful Armed Forces.

The statement said the US should be aware that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran possess greater might and readiness than before to defend the country’s sovereignty, territory, and national interests. It added that the US military had already experienced part of Iran’s offensive capabilities during the “third imposed war”.

The headquarters further stated that Iranian forces remain prepared and determined to monitor the behavior and movements of their enemies in the region, while continuing to manage and control the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

On February 28, the United States and the Israeli regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, during which then Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials were martyred.

Iran hajj pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia: report

25 April, 2026

Iranian hajj pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh-based broadcaster Al Arabiya reported Saturday, despite a deterioration in ties between the Gulf kingdom and the Islamic republic during the Middle East war.

Saudi Arabia's hajj ministry informed Al Arabiya that the first Iranians had arrived this year by air for the annual holy Muslim pilgrimage, the channel reported in a post on X.

Iran bombarded its Gulf neighbours, including Saudi Arabia, with missiles and drones for over a month in response to US and Israeli attacks on the Islamic republic beginning on February 28.

The admission of Iranians for hajj has been a barometer for relations between Shiite-dominated Iran and Sunni-majority Saudi Arabia after no Iranian pilgrims were allowed into Mecca for seven years from 2016 to 2023.

In 2016 Saudi Arabia severed relations with Iran when its embassy in Tehran and consulate in the northwestern city of Mashhad were attacked during protests after Saudi Arabia executed Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr.

Operation Eagle Claw: Historic US Army failure in Iran

TEHRAN, Apr. 25 (MNA) – On April 24, 1980, the US Delta Force, which sought to release the US Embassy staff held in Tehran, suffered from a humiliating defeat in Tabas Desert in northeast Iran.

The botched American mission was an attempt to release 52 Staff of the US Embassy [known as the den of espionage] who had been held in Tehran following the Embassy takeover by revolutionary students in Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Earlier in April 1980, just a few weeks before the launch of the operation, Washington had severed diplomatic ties with Iran over the US Embassy takeover by the students in Tehran, which was approved of by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini.

The Iranian students were angry about the US president’s move in allowing deposed Mohammad Reza  Shah to enter the United States soil and demanded his return to Iran to go on trial for his crimes against the Iranian nation.

During this time, American military commanders refined a plan for a possible rescue mission and conducted training exercises to evaluate the troops and equipment that would be used in such an undertaking. President Carter approved a military rescue operation on April 16, 1980. The plan utilized elements of all four branches of the U.S. armed services; the two-day operation called for helicopters and C-130 aircraft to rendezvous on a salt flat (code-named Desert One) some 200 miles southeast of Tehran. There, the helicopters would refuel from the C-130s and pick up combat troops. The helicopters would then transport troops to the mountain location from which the actual mission would be launched the following night. Starting on April 19th, forces were deployed throughout Oman and the Arabian Sea.

Increasing shrine attacks in Bangladesh raise concerns over culture of impunity: Report

25 Apr 2026

By The Hans India

Dhaka: As many as 97 shrines across Bangladesh have come under attack since the 2024 July protests and through the final phase of the previous Muhammad Yunus-led interim government, with incidents including vandalism, arson, looting, and coordinated assaults.

According to a report in Dhaka Tribune, in the latest case, a spiritual leader, Shamim Reza, was beaten and hacked to death at his shrine in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district on April 18, following an attack sparked by rumours of religious blasphemy.

Citing data, the report said that despite nearly 100 such incidents, only 12 cases — including the Kushtia incident — have been formally registered, while progress in most of the investigations remains minimal.

The absence of significant arrests or judicial action in the majority of the cases, it said, fuelled concerns over a growing culture of impunity surrounding attacks on shrines.

Pakistani Taliban network detected in Bangladesh Air Force: Around a dozen officers flee the country after absconding officer caught in Pakistan, 3 air force bases raided and several arrested

April 26, 2026

Bangladesh’s Air Force is on high alert following a series of intelligence-led raids across multiple bases that uncovered an alleged network of officers and airmen with ties to the banned Pakistani militant group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The operation, which began in the early hours of 20 April, has led to the arrest of at least two squadron leaders, nearly ten junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and airmen, and the detention of around a dozen others for questioning. Several more personnel are reported to have fled the country.

The story was first broken by Indian journalist Chandan Nandy in Northeast News on 23 April 2026, with follow-up reports on 24 and 25 April detailing the extent of the alleged infiltration. Bangladeshi media outlets have largely avoided direct coverage of the sensitive military matter, though some portals have since reported on the developments, citing the NE News articles and noting a subsequent spike in police alertness in and around the base.

As per the report, BAF’s intelligence wing raided several servicemen on at least two air force installations in Dhaka in the early hours of April 20, based on surveillance inputs generated over a considerable period of time. During these raids, 2 officers were arrested, and 10 more were detained for questioning.

Encyclopedia chronicles architectural evolution of Prophet’s Mosque

April 26, 2026

MADINAH:  A new scholarly encyclopedia documenting the architectural evolution of the Prophet’s Mosque has emerged as a major reference work, charting the development of one of Islam’s most significant landmarks across centuries.

Published by the Al-Madinah al-Munawwarah Research and Studies Center, the project forms part of broader efforts to systematically record the mosque’s history and features through a rigorous academic framework enhanced by modern research tools, a review by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

The encyclopedia traces the mosque’s transformation from its foundation during the Prophetic era through successive expansions across Islamic history, culminating in large-scale Saudi-era developments that have expanded capacity while preserving its architectural and spiritual identity.

Beyond historical documentation, the work provides analytical insight into key structural elements — such as arcades, domes, and minarets — examining their functional and aesthetic evolution, alongside associated landmarks that underscore the mosque’s enduring religious and civilizational role.

Demolition go-ahead to allow Halifax mosque plan to get under way

By John Greenwood

26th Apr 2026

The next phase in the life of a Halifax place of worship can finally get under way, with planning approval given to demolish one of the town’s mosques.

Calderdale planning councillors gave their approval last autumn for a new, state-of-the-art mosque to be built on the site of the Jami Masjid Noorani Mosque, which is on the corner of Gibraltar Road and Buckland Place, when it is cleared.

But councillors went against their recommendation that the plans should be refused because of a lack of parking spaces in the plans which new buildings would usually require under recently adopted planning guidance.

Up to 100,000 Muslim pilgrims from around the world could descend on Suffolk town for festival

By ISABELLA MACHIN

26 April 2026

A Suffolk town is expecting up to 100,000 Muslim pilgrims to descend on it for a festival planned by a fundamentalist mosque.

Worshippers from across the world are anticipated to attend the three-day 'Ijtema', or gathering, which is being organised by the Markazi Mosque in Didsbury, West Yorkshire.

Locals in Barham village, Ipswich, have called for the July event - set to take place at the Grade II listed Georgian manor, Shrubland Hall - to be cancelled.

They argue the village, with a population of around 1,600, will struggle to accommodate the thousands of people - which will also cause traffic jams.

The assassin who murdered my friend said I would be next... the liberal mob gave them a 'hit list' to make their hunt easier. Now, I'm finally getting my revenge: AYAAN HIRSI ALI

By AYAAN HIRSI ALI

25 April 2026

In October 2016, at the height of the Islamist terror wave that had already claimed my friend Theo van Gogh, the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists, the Bataclan concertgoers in Paris and the patrons of a Pulse nightclub in Orlando, the Southern Poverty Law Center sat down in its offices in Montgomery, Alabama, and published a document called 'A Journalist's Manual: Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists.'

So were activists Maajid Nawaz, Daniel Pipes, David Horowitz and a dozen others whose only alleged sin was insisting that Islam, like every other tradition of ideas, should be subject to criticism, reform and public debate.

The assassin who shot, stabbed and decapitated Theo van Gogh, the Dutch filmmaker, on an Amsterdam street had pinned a note to Theo's chest with a knife promising I would be next.

I had already lived under police protection on two continents. There was already, quite literally, a target on my back. What the SPLC did was paint a bigger one over it and offer a standing invitation to every would-be jihadist with a laptop and a grievance.

'Quite an evening': Trump wanted 'the show to go on' after shooting at White House Correspondents' Dinner

Apr 26, 2026

US President Donald Trump said he was asked by law enforcement to leave the venue “consistent with protocol” after shots were fired during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, while confirming the shooter had been caught.

Trump said he would address the media minutes from the White House briefing room and confirmed he had spoken to officials overseeing the event, with plans to reschedule the dinner within 30 days.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the “shooter has been apprehended,” praising the United States Secret Service and other agencies for acting “quickly and bravely.” "Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again," he said.

From Ronald Reagan to Donald Trump: How Washington Hilton hotel became scene of panic once again

Apr 26, 2026

More than four decades after the then–US President Ronald Reagan survived an assassination attempt at the Washington Hilton hotel, a similar scene of panic unfolded at the same venue on Saturday night.

The venue for the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the Washington Hilton, is sometimes colloquially referred to by locals as the “Hinckley Hilton,” a reference to the March 30, 1981, shooting of Reagan. During that incident, John Hinckley Jr fired six shots at Reagan in a matter of seconds.

One of the bullets ricocheted off the presidential limousine and struck Ronald Reagan in the chest, leaving him seriously wounded. Three others were also injured, including Press Secretary James Brady, a police officer, and a Secret Service agent.

Secret Service agents quickly forced Reagan into the vehicle and transported him to George Washington University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and survived, as cited by Fox News.

On Saturday night, US president Donald Trump was rushed to safety after gunshots were reported during the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, triggering panic inside the venue and a swift, large-scale security response.

‘I just want to go home’: Tearful Erika Kirk escorted out after White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting

Apr 26, 2026

A tearful Erika Kirk was seen being escorted out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after gunfire triggered panic and evacuation at the venue.

In a video, shared by CNN reporter and circulated widely on social media she is heard saying, “I just want to go home,” as security guided her away. The moment drew attention and sympathy given that her husband, Charlie Kirk, was shot dead in September last year.

Kirk, a conservative political activist and social media influencer, was shot dead on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University during a campus event organised by his group. He was killed in what investigators described as a targeted shooting, with the accused, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, facing aggravated murder charges and a possible death sentence.

Meanwhile, the Saturday dinner was disrupted after a man opened fire near the main security screening area of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton, triggering panic inside the packed venue. Hundreds of guests ducked under tables as security personnel rushed in. The United States Secret Service took the suspect into custody, while an officer who was hit was protected by a bullet-resistant vest and is expected to be OK.

Countries with the most millionaires in 2026: The US tops the global list, China and France follow

Apr 26, 2026

The distribution of global wealth in 2026 shows a pattern that feels both familiar and slightly shifting. The United States continues to dominate the list of high-net-worth individuals, holding a lead that remains difficult to close. At the same time, countries such as India are beginning to gain attention for their rapid pace of wealth creation. Experts say this reflects bigger economic changes, including digital growth, investment flows, and evolving business environments. The latest data on high-net-worth individuals by country offers a clear picture of where the world’s ultra-rich live today and how that balance might change in the years ahead.

The global distribution of high-net-worth individuals still favours developed economies, with the United States clearly in the lead. China follows, while European countries maintain steady positions. At the same time, emerging economies such as India are showing signs of faster growth. According to the WorldAtlas 2026 reports, check below the 10 countries with high-net-worth individuals by country.

The United States continues to lead by a wide margin, with more than 18 million high-net-worth individuals. The difference between the US and other countries is not small. It appears consistent across all metrics in the dataset.

The second and third figures are particularly high, which suggests strong activity across investment and asset categories. This level of spread indicates a broad and mature financial system. The presence of large capital markets and a strong private sector likely supports this scale. The numbers show depth as well as size.

Tinubu trying his best, but there’s a lot more to be done – Ahmadiyya leader, Abdulazeez

26 April 2026

As Nigeria navigates complex challenges confronting it, ranging from insecurity to political fragmentation and battered economy, ahead of 2027 general elections, the national head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Alatoye Abdulazeez, has urged the Nigerian youth to move beyond division, resist inducement and organise themselves into a formidable force capable of influencing leadership outcomes.

In this conversation, he presents a compelling case for a Nigeria built on unity, accountability and shared purpose. He describes Islam as a religion of peace and decries the terrorism carried out in its name. He also speaks on the importance of moral and value-based education in addressing Nigeria’s deep-rooted challenges and the country’s security situation among others

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Community worldwide has a logo, ‘Love For All, Hatred for None,’ which is deeply rooted in our faith in Almighty Allah. Religion consists of two parts. The first part is to worship Allah. We sometimes limit the scope of worship to Solat alone, but no, worship of Allah means that we dedicate ourselves to serving Allah, to peaceful coexistence and to all of Allah’s creatures for the sake of Allah.

In the Holy Quran, we are taught that Allah created and owns everything. When you are providing food, medical care, making peace, or involved in disaster recovery for the subjects of Allah who are under trial, you are doing all these for the sake of Almighty Allah. All these acts put together are called acts of worship, though the highest act of worship is the remembrance of Allah Himself.

War-damaged mosque offered shelter during fighting in the Sudanese capital

26-04-2026

The Gharib Allah Sufi mosque in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, was on the frontline of the country’s civil war for almost two years.

“We didn’t rehabilitate the mosque to its former beauty. Our neighbours and mosque-goers have damaged homes, so we have to be sensitive to what others are facing,” said Shafiq.

As the fighting continues elsewhere in the country, those praying there remember the safe haven it was when the city was under the control of the Rapid Support Forces.

"Inside the mosque, people were able to check on each other. Who is here? Who eats? It is of service to the people, it's not just a mosque where people would pray and be finished,” said community member Mahmud Mirghani Salman**.**
