Trump and Israel are sounding the war drums against Iran. A Red Herring and War by Pretext: How the Israeli government is shaping narratives and swaying the United States toward a potentially dangerous conflict with Iran

Tensions with Iran seem to be rising, with riots reportedly driven by foreign interference and talk of the Pentagon and Israel preparing for possible strikes. The U.S. has pulled non-essential staff from its Middle East embassies, suggesting a potential move toward a full-scale conflict.

Former CIA officials, Israel’s Gideon Levy, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, along with military and strategic experts, academics, Washington think tanks, and journalists have cautioned that the U.S. could once again be pulled into a war fuelled by lies and propaganda—a fight most Americans would rather avoid.

This article explores how fearmongering and the influence of powerful elites are pushing the United States toward a potentially dangerous clash with Iran.

Israel’s leaders, prominent Zionist figures, and the media are shaping stories and intelligence to portray Tehran as a dire existential threat, while overlooking international law and past agreements.

It feels like history is repeating itself—fear continues to drive conflict. Didn’t we learn from the WMD debacle in Iraq? Thoughtful Americans should challenge this manufactured agreement and stand up for peace.

Benjamin Netanyahu, a war criminal, has long voiced his disdain for the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) and his fixation on regime change there. For decades, he’s painted Tehran as a serious threat to humanity, warning that “Iran could soon be capable of targeting U.S. cities with nuclear weapons.” These warnings, however, are not based on verified or confirmed intelligence.

For decades, the prevailing narrative has been that “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, enrich uranium, or develop ballistic missiles that threaten the world.” This position goes beyond the limits of non-proliferation treaties and international law. As a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran has the explicit right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, under the oversight of IAEA inspections. While nuclear weapons are prohibited, the treaty guarantees access to civilian nuclear energy.

It’s hard to fault Iran for defending itself when it’s encircled by forty U.S. military bases, hit with sanctions, targeted for regime change, had its nuclear scientists assassinated, Generals, and been economically choked. As Professor Jeffrey Sachs said, “Iran complied with the nuclear deal. The United States violated it. And then Washington blamed Iran for the collapse of diplomacy.”

You don’t need to be an expert to see the nuclear double standard at the heart of the crisis. Israel reportedly has over 300 nuclear warheads, isn’t part of the NPT, and allows no inspections or transparency. On top of that, it occupies Palestinian land against international law, has been accused of genocidal warfare and ethnic cleansing in Palestine since 1945, and has carried out bombings in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran, and Qatar. It’s a pariah state acting without restraint, yet it plays the victim and uses accusations of antisemitism as a shield.

Iran has dealt with coups, foreign interference, invasions, sanctions, sabotage, cyberattacks, and assassinations. Lacking an air force on par with Israel or the United States, its ballistic missile program is more about deterrence than aggression—essentially serving as an insurance policy. As Professor John Mearsheimer says, “States in dangerous regions pursue power not because they want war, but because they want to survive.”

Expecting Iran to disarm while Israel retains its nuclear weapons isn’t a security strategy—it’s a show of imperial dominance. For the IRI, the takeaway isn’t paranoia but the importance of maintaining deterrence and staying vigilant.

Americans should act before any excuse or staged incident (false flag) is used to pin blame on the IRI. This can be done through Congress, the War Powers Act, and by pushing back against the ZI narrative. The real danger isn’t that war is certain, but that it will be sold as inevitable through fear, manipulation, false intelligence, and obedient media. As former UK MP George Galloway put it, “When they cannot win your consent, they manufacture your fear.”

It’s frustrating that the US sends over five billion dollars of taxpayer money to Israel while millions here are homeless, lack healthcare, struggle to afford college, face high rents, and our schools desperately need billions for upgrades.
