Sara Sabry became the world’s first Egyptian astronaut after flying to space on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket on Aug. 4, 2022—marking the first time an Arab or African women has ever gone to space, all before even turning 30.
It’s a common childhood dream, but one that few realize. For starters, you need access to a plane just to rack up the 1,000 flight hours required to apply to programs like NASA.
For Sabry, the mission was even more impossible. She wasn’t born into a country with a space agency. There were no astronauts who looked like her. And she didn’t have elite connections or deep pockets.
So to get her foot in the door, the then 28-year-old had to wake up at 4:30 a.m. to squeeze in early-morning training and bioastronautics research, all before reporting to her full-time job as CTO of a Berlin-based tech startup by 9 a.m.
Then after work, she’d work some more on her own start-up and space training—and it’s the kind of gruelling discipline she says young people today shouldn’t shy away from if they want to unlock their dreams.
“Back then it was, it was really, really, it was really tough,” she recalls in those early days of her career, speaking exclusively to Fortune during her stay in London for the 2025 American Express Leadership Academy. “You would wake up at night, and then you would go back at night, so you barely see the daylight ever.”
“I see a lot of young people now they’re wanting to take the easy route without working so hard. But the truth is, you have to make sacrifices. You have to put yourself through a lot of discomfort,” Sabry adds. “Of course, it’s not easy to wake up 4:30 a.m. every morning and be completely isolated from the world, right? But it goes to show that you can really transform your life—and you have so much control over your life.”
She didn’t have the passport, the platform, or the privilege, but she pushed through anyway. And in doing so, proved what’s possible when ambition is backed by relentless effort.
“It changed the way I see things now. Having gone to space and having done the thing that was impossible, honestly the likelihood of that happening was around 0.0%, unless I changed my nationality.”

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has vowed that no individual — regardless of rank or political ties — will be shielded from the investigation into the death of student Zara Qairina Mahathir.
“Regardless of whether they are Datuk Seri or Tan Sri, we will investigate if there is proof. We are a country of laws, not slander.
“If someone is guilty, they will be punished. But do not throw baseless accusations just because they are the child of a minister or a relative of a deputy prime minister or deputy chief minister,” he said during the National Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen’s Day (HPPNK) 2025 event here.
He said he had contacted Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to ensure that the probe was carried out thoroughly and without interference.
He emphasised that no one would be spared if found guilty but warned the public not to fabricate accusations against political figures or their families.
The death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina at a religious boarding school in Papar has garnered national attention, with some — including family members — alleging a lack of transparency in the investigation.

Sydney Sweeney:'All Hot Girls Vote GOP'

As the Sydney Sweeney jeans row has become a political one, with the liberals slamming the actor for her 'good jeans' and the Republicans slamming the liberals for targeting Sweeney, the new flashpoint is the fact that Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican in Florida. Republicans did not marvel at the Democrat discovery and said 'all hot girls vote for GOP'. Republicans also said that this is the real reason behind the liberals' anger for Sweeney -- not the American Eagle ad in which Sydney is playing with 'Jeans' and 'genes'.
According to voter registration records, a Sydney B Sweeney is registered with the Republican Party of Florida in June 2024 and remains listed as an active Republican voter. Democrats claimed that this is indeed actor Sydney Swwney as she also purchased a propert in 2024 in Florida.
American Eagle issued a statement addressing the controversy and clarified that it will not apologize. In a statement posted on American Eagle's Instagram account on Friday, the retailer said the ad campaign “is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”
In the run-up to the ad blitz, the company's chief marketing officer told trade media outlets that it included “clever, even provocative language” and was “definitely going to push buttons."
Critics did not like it as Sweeney said: “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality and even eye colour. My jeans are blue.” They said if the company only meant jeans and not genes, they could have hired a different model -- probably a black model.
The Nazi party used the pseudoscience of eugenics, which promotes some genetic features as better than others, to justify the killing of Jews and countless other minority groups during the Holocaust.
"I actually thought that one of the lessons (Democrats) might take is 'we're going to be less crazy.' And the lesson they have apparently taken is 'we're going to attack people as Nazis for thinking Sydney Sweeney is beautiful,'" Vance said. "Great strategy, guys. That's how you're going to win the midterm, especially young American men."

Hajjah – Saba:The Women’s Authority in Hajjah Governorate organized a series of cultural events commemorating the arrival of Imam Al-Hadi (peace be upon him) to Yemen, alongside solidarity rallies in support of Gaza.
The activities took place in Bani Kaab (Kuhlan Al-Sharaf), Al-Jabr Al-Ala, Bani Mujammal, local mosques in Al-Miftah, Al-Ayz in Aflah Al-Sham, and Al-Shuja’a in Mahabishah. RINJ Women workers in Gaza accuse Trump of Murder as part of displacement, annexation of Gaza

“The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), is a fake humanitarian NGO with mercenary killers as employees who killed scores of Gaza women and children at food distribution centers, under Donald Trump’s direction,” explains Behar Abbasi who has run the RINJ Foundation’s reproductive health care operations in Gaza for many years.

Meanwhile the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation which was created in Delaware around the time in early February when Trump said he would relocate the people of Gaza and take ownership of the Strip.
GHF is a private organization of about 100 elite military killers/mercenaries backed by the Israeli Prime Minister and the U.S. President.
While it claims to operate as a nonprofit organization, the GHF has faced significant scrutiny for its operations, which some critics argue violate humanitarian norms and principles. The UN and other humanitarian organizations have expressed concerns about its transparency and accountability, leading to accusations of politicization and weaponization of aid. Therefore, while it may claim to be a nonprofit, its status as a 501(c)(3) organization is not explicitly confirmed in the available information according to Wikipedia.
The United Nations and other aid 0-erqations slam the GHF and have accused them of politicizing and “weaponizing aid“, and delivering it in a manner that is dangerous to the lives of Palestinian people. Wikipedia
The RINJ Foundation and at least three members of the GHF group and one former member have been described the group as one that has been firing live rounds at Gazans and even murdering or injuring Palestinian civilians with machine guns.
