"Whether Adam And Eve Existed Is Not
Important. What's Much More Important Is The Confirmation That The Human Brain
Is Still So Underdeveloped As To Believe In Adam, Eve, Angels, Fairies, Jinns Or
Genies. These Are All Figments Of Imagination Along With Mankind's Biggest
Fabrication, God...."
Maurice Bloch, an anthropologist at the London
School of Economics
The genetic
variation we see in humans today provides no positive evidence whatsoever that
we trace our ancestry exclusively from a single couple. Adam and Eve is
actually a Semitic concoction.
In other
words, it's a religious belief in all three Semitic faiths, viz, Judaism,
Christianity and Islam. But the majority of Orthodox Jews do not take this
story literally but understand it as an allegory expressing the idea that we
are all related and that we are created in the image of God—in the spiritual,
not physical, sense. Even some Jews who believe that the Torah represents the
word of God believe that the story was given to us as a teaching device, not
literal history.
It's a myth
told by primitive people, the same as the Greeks believing that lightning was
Zeus' thunderbolt, or the Iroquois believing that the earth is all on the back
of a giant turtle. It was meant metaphorically.

The problem
with (religious) humans is that they don't understand the language of
allegories, metaphors, insinuations and symbols, all the scriptures are rife
with. They're literalists. Only a primitive brain continues to believe in all
sorts of porcine turds that religions and scriptures have to offer. We talk
about cognitive skills but do we really apply self-reflection, logical
reasoning, abstract and critical thinking, introspection and mental arithmetic?
If we can
apply these skills to other aspects of our life, why don't we apply them to
understand religions, books and esoteric beliefs? A man can be highly educated
with a scientific background but his scientific temperament vanishes the moment
he starts justifying the irrationalities in his faith. An uneducated yokel
believing in Adam, Eve, Hanuman, Demons, Satan etc. is perfectly justifiable
because his brain is not developed. But 'educated' people believing in these
fables is an insult to human intelligence. Study Genetics, Human Evolution,
Mutation and Anthropology. You'll get answers to all your doubts and queries
without ever bringing in Adam and Eve.
Lastly, in
a lighter vein, if Adam and Eve are mankind's common ancestors, aren't we all
offspring of the same parents? Then, haven't humans been indulging in
incest right from the beginning of human civilization? Just curious.
Follow the
advice of Jiddu Krishnamurthy, " Evolve. Evolve. Evolve. Humans are still
in the gutter....." when a famous doctor from Madras (sorry, no Chennai)
asked Jiddu what should humans do during one of his Madras lectures in the
early sixties.
